OUTLINE:
The “Secret” To Strength Is Humility
Humility is our greatest source of strength and courage (aka “applied faith”). Why? Because we put the onus of victory on the Lord’s strength instead of our own.
Remember How You Got Here!
Once you think you’ve “arrived,” be careful you don’t forget where you came from and WHO, exactly, sanctified you! David forgot and ultimately suffered dearly. You might just be miserable because of this ONE reason - you’ve become familiar, entitled, arrogant. (cp. 1Sa 17, 1Chr 21)
Has YOUR pride ever gotten in the way of your humility?
Different Kinds of Pride
To properly discern pride, you consider the substance of the boasting in view. Pride is godly if it is boasting in God’s work in a person; however, it is ungodly if it is boasting in self. If the substance is God, it is good (ala 2Co 7:4); if it’s self, it is evil (aka “empty boasting” ala 1Jn 2:16).

1Cor. 4:7 [Message]
For who do you know that really knows you, knows your heart? And even if they did, is there anything they would discover in you that you could take credit for? Isn’t everything you have and everything you are sheer gifts from God?
Pride Demands To Be Rewarded
A proud person expects accolades for everything. There’s a greediness for self- aggrandizement that evolves into entitlement that is then imposed on others. An arrogant person expects rewards for simply doing what they are supposed to!

Deliverance From Pride’s Temptation
FOCUS on the good in you instead of the evil in others.
A person’s nature is revealed by the type of advice he accepts.
Gal 4:16
Have I then become your enemy by telling you the truth?
Partiality Is Evil
People who abide in it are rightly called “evildoers” for the simple fact that they “do evil” habitually. A person who abides in partiality doesn’t want to talk to a person who abides in integrity.
